My Experience Running My First 10K in New York on July 5, 2025

 The best experence in my background as a runner have been to run 10K at The Governos Island. Living in New York City, it is a wonderfull thing to do in a summer activity. However, New York city has diverse opportunity and resources to enjoy anything that we really love to do.



In this post I will narrate my story running 10K for the first time

The idea started by my sister, she motevated me to participate in the race on July 5, 2025.  I just take a week to decide if I enrrolle the race. I did not realized that on 4th of July we are more tentative to go out and share with family and friends. Then, I thought that I have to do thinks that I really enjoy. I saw the race as an opportunity to keep far from the daily routine. Life is to short to be doing the same things for years. In the past, I alway keep myself busy on summer, studiging for associate degree, bachelor degree, and master degree. Many years focus on improvement in academics. Also, staying at home or, just working.

A week later I enrrolled to the race, and started to train my body running more frequently. By the way, the reality was that my job become in the more busy month of the year. I just trained one time, running 3 miles in 30 minutes. 

Last week before the race I just rest, care about food and water. The day before, I put minerals drops and pink salt into my glass of water. I drank almost 2 litter of water, also, I ate rice and chikend as a base of carb and nutrients to use in the next day. I ate a portion fruit.

The day before a went to the bed at 9:30 PM, and woke up at 4:45 AM. I drank a glass of water with minerals. I prepared a bake potatoe to go, the plan was to share with my sister and to eat an hour before the race. I also, prepared two shot of black coffee no sugar for natural energy. Travel time from home to the race was around 50 munutes. We took the ferry to arrive to Governors Island. I took a cold shawer, that  gave to my body energy.

We started the race at 9:00 AM. My sister and I did the first three miles together, after that my body got too hot, I just stoped to drink water and warm up a litter to continue running. After that, I just started to walk them I played a motivational playlist song keep moving with more energy. Was an amazing memory with my sister, we anjoyed a lot the race. 

At the end of the race they gave us some ice pops, perfect for the hot weather and many apple to recovery our body. Also, water. The view was fantastic, and the nature gave us a kind of well-being.


Some benefits of a race

1. Mental health: We prepare mentally to meet an objetive: complete the race in an certain amount of time.  Keep tracking our body feeling, focusing in the breathing management. We estimulate our brain with the benefits of exercise.

2. Improvement in the resistance: Completing the race gave us a clear signal that we can do whaterver we want in the life. We see what strong we are, we keep our body doing the job until the end. Many people did the race, but many other never are been in any in their life, or keep in the contenplation stage.

3. Memory: We got experience to share in the future of something interesting. We add more thing to talk with friend and family in the future.
